Anca Marinescu, MD PhD, is an Ophthalmic Surgeon with a research background in Medical Retina and Amblyopia and specialist training in Retinal diseases, Cataract and A&E.
Working for the last 20 years at a major NHS London eye hospital, Miss Marinescu has an extensive experience of diagnosing and treating a wide range of eye conditions using the latest treatments. Having implemented screening programmes, she has experience of caring for patients with Diabetic Retinopathy.
From 1981 to 1987 Miss Marinescu studied medicine at the University of Bucharest, Carol Davila Faculty of Medicine obtaining a Primary Medical degree with Honours.
Miss Marinescu continued her studies in Greece completing her specialist training in Ophthalmology at the Ophthalmiatrio Eye Hospital of Athens in 1997.
From 1999-2002 Miss Marinescu was a research fellow and Specialist Registrar at Moorfields Eye Hospital in Medical Retina.
From 2002-2005 Miss Marinescu was a clinical fellow in A&E, Primary Care and Cataract at Moorfields Eye Hospital.
Miss Marinescu specialises in General Ophthalmology and currently has responsibility for multiple sites delivering ophthalmic care in the community across London.
She is an International Member of the American Academy of Ophthalmologists, Affiliate Member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and the Founding President of the Romanian Medical Society in the UK.
Miss Marinescu has published mainly clinical research. More recently she has presented papers on improving eye care service through the use of audits and gathering patient and clinician feedback.
For her research in Amblyopia Miss Marinescu received a PhD in 2004 from the University of Bucharest, Carol Davila Faculty of Medicine.
